There is need for authorities to put in place, a very protective health management system for aviation professionals.
This was part of the resolutions at a webinar organized by Engr. Frank Ogochukwu, the Chief Technology Strategist, Debbie Mishael Consulting, a premier African Aviation consulting firm. Ogochukwu is equally an IT professional and a cyber security expert, an ATSEP with Communications and Surveillance ratings.
Panelists at the webinar with theme, Covid19: The Implications For Nigeria’s Aviation Professionals During & Post Covid, emphasized the need to give more attention to the mental health of pilots and other aviation professionals that have been affected health wise, by the operational distortions from the lockdown that accompanied the covid19 pandemic. Such health issues include stress from non-payment and under payment of salaries.
The communiqué further recommends that “airlines should embrace various employee protection insurance packages that are available, such as Loss Of Earnings Insurance and Business Interruption Insurance schemes. This will ensure that professionals are protected during challenging times like covid19 era, as workers are the most important asset of any organization.
Participants equally called for more training collaboration among professionals to help the aviation industry grow. Leaders of various aviation professional bodies, including the Flight Crew Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Fire & Safety Association, Aeronautical Information Services Association of Nigeria (AISAN), National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) and National Association of Aeronautical Engineers (NAAE), participated in the webinar.
