Fashola Denounces 17 Million Housing Deficit Notion

The Minister of Works & Housing, Babatunde Fashola says the widely held notion that Nigeria has a housing deficit of 17 million is not correct.
Speaking this evening at a Channels Television programme, Fashola said he had wondered the source of that figure to the extent of approaching various international organizations, in search of the source.
Fashola said he was aware of the existence of many empty houses in cities like Lagos and Abuja and queried if such houses were part or the statistics considered by those who came up with the figure of 17 million deficit.
He said a reliable figure would only be generated after a proper census has been conducted.
