Roberts FIR Records 14.4% Increase In Aircraft Movements

Roberts Flight Information Region (FIR) which manages a portion of West Africa’s airspace has recorded an increase in aircraft movements by 14.4% within the past five years.
Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of Roberts FIR, Badara Tarawaley who disclosed this, said there was however a drop in 2015 during the Ebola outbreak that caused airlines to withdraw from the region.
He encouraged air navigation service providers in the region to embrace the AFI Peer Review initiative in order to grow and develop as a region. He also stressed the urgent need for effective resource allocation to ATM due to extra traffic and flexible sectorization so as to minimize delay and overtime of air traffic controllers.
