13 Africans Graduate From ACI’s APEX Safety Training Programme

A total of 13 aviation safety professionals from Africa have graduated from the 2019 APEX Safety Assessor Training Programme (SATP) conducted by Airports Council International (ACI).
The graduates, most of who are West Africans were presented with the certificates of graduation at the just concluded 28th ACI Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition held at Kempinski Hotel, Accra, Ghana from October 12 to 18, 2019.
The graduates included safety and environmental officers, airside operations officers, aerodrome fire officers and rescue officers.
Commenting on the programme, the Secretary General of ACI, Mr. Ali Tounsi said “the ACI Airport Excellence (APEX) in Safety programme was set up primarily to meet industry demands to enhance the level of safety at airports by conducting peer reviews between member airports. To date, around 50 African airports have benefitted from this program and as part of the capacity building process on the African continent, more and more ACI certified African experts are being used as assessors during APEX reviews.”
