The Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa says the multiple security, economic and political challenges that Nigeria is currently facing would have been worse if not for Christians and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Speaking at the just concluded bi-annual MEGACONVENTION of Church of God Mission International (CGMi) held at Balm Of Gilead City (BGC), Edo State, Nigeria from August 6 to 11, 2019, Okowa, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday, said the prayer of Christians has played a significant role in sustaining the nation.
“We are complaining about the challenges in our nation despite what God is doing. Imagine a Nigeria without Christ,” he said.
The Governor expressed confidence that the prayers of the church and of CGMi will change Nigeria’s situation.
After the Sunday Thanksgiving Service of August 11, the Governor commissioned a newly built Prayer Tower and a 10,000 litre capacity Water Tower both at BGC.
The CGMi MEGACON 2019 hosted by its Presiding Archbishop Magaret Idahosa was attended by Bishops, Archbishops and thousands of both CGMi and non-CGMi members from across the world, with Creflo Dollar from the United States of America as one of the Guest Speakers.
The MEGACON featured the consecration of eight Bishops (three of whom are CGMi members) and ordination of Pastors, Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses totaling over 3,900.
