The President of International Aviation Women Association (IAWA), Mrs. Alina Nassar says the population of women that have attained leadership positions in aviation and aerospace is close to 10%.
“We estimate that women in leadership roles in aviation and aerospace are closer to 10%,” she says.
The Secretary General of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Dr. Fang Liu further discloses that “current statistics reveal that less than 7% of the aviation workforce is female, and at the CEO level, that drops to less than 5%.”
She notes that from manning the cockpit, aviation engineering, ground handling and managerial positions, the male-female disparity is expected to be gradually closing up with the rise of more women in aviation business. “Yet, the statistics are still unsatisfactory.”
