MARADONA RAISES NIGERIA’S HOPE AGAINST ARGENTINA

Diego Maradona, former Captain of Argentina’s national team says it is possible for Nigeria to beat his country at thE 2018 World Cup, as he believes La Albiceleste are going to the competition without a leader.

Maradona says the Super Eagles team is likely to break the jinx this year in Russia, even though Argentina had triumphed on all their previous four meetings with Nigeria in the past World Cup matches.

Maradona says he is not comfortable with the information he has from Argentina, that the 2-3-3-2 tactics is to be adopted, describing such decision as ridiculous. “It was played in 1930,” the football legend submitted.

Nigeria is expected to face Argentina in their final Group D fixture at Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg on June 26, ahead of which Maradona, who coached the Albiceleste at the South Africa 2010 World Cup, criticized the team’s Manager, Jorge Sampaoli for his choice of players.

The Napoli hero, who incidentally was banned for drugs after leading Argentina to beat Nigeria at USA 94, opined that the Super Eagles, Iceland and Croatia will not be easy opponents.
